A benefit fraudster pleaded guilty at Bromley Magistrates Crown Court, bringing the total prosecuted to 40 since the inception of Bromley Council’s partnership with Greenwich Council in April 2002.

Council Leader Stephen Carr said “We will continue to vigorously pursue fraudsters in order to protect public funds. Fraud will not be tolerated by this Authority.”

Andrew Humberstone, 32, of Mackenzie Road, Beckenham, pleaded guilty to defrauding Bromley Council of benefits totalling over £3,000 . He was sentenced to a fine of £500 with £319 costs.

The overpayment of benefits is currently being recovered.
