An exciting three day extravaganza held to celebrate the best of ‘green’ Bromley drew to a close on Thursday. The efforts of residents, businesses and community groups to improve their local green spaces were awarded at the showcase event held at the 18th century Kevington Hall, Orpington.

Councillor Colin Smith, Executive Councillor for the Environment said, “We have been working with residents and community groups for many years and we value their work highly. This is a small way of saying thank you. We know that the contributions of many across the borough actually make a difference to everyone by improving our quality of life.”

The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mrs Denise Reddin, said, “Residents of all ages clearly care about their local environment - it doesn’t matter what age you are. This is what celebrate Bromley is about. It is inspiring that so many young people understand the issues we face – from growing vegetables and planting flowers to caring for so many of our open spaces”.

Prizes and awards were presented to the borough’s winning schools, allotment holders, gardeners, businesses, poets, photographers, artists and Friends of parks. As part of the celebrations a range of exhibitors were on-hand to share expert advice on sustainable living. Manor Oak Primary School and Ravenswood School provided musical entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
