Directorate and service content
Each directorate is responsible for creating and maintaining its own web pages. This is managed through the Web Channel Management Framework.
A dedicated Channel manager is allocated to each website channel and they oversee all content, working closely with the content owners, web editors and authors who contribute to that channel. All these people play a vital role to ensure content adheres to the 4 key principles and is developed in line with these standards.
The following checklist should assist (unless you have completed the metadata review date):
- Service Category pages should be checked every month to ensure content is current and accurate.
- All internal and external links on your web pages should be checked on a monthly basis. (See linking policy document)
- Service Description pages should be checked for currency and accuracy every 3 months.
- Departments must notify the Bromley Knowledge Team when a change in service or organisation takes place that will affect the corporate information pages of the site.
Bromley Knowledge Owned Content
We are responsible for the overall management of the website and its content management system (in partnership with the ICT Division), which includes:
- Website standards
- Website accessibility
- Website performance monitoring
- Website development
- Templates
- CSS (cascading style sheets)
- Website architecture
- Management of the devolved web channel management framework
- Search functionality
- News releases (apart from environment, leisure and education)
- Header and footer content
- Search results pages
- A-Z of Council Services
- All “council website” related pages, for example “How to use the website”
- Channel Coordinator role for Advice Benefits and Emergency, Community People and Living, Jobs and Careers, Online Services and Events
We also manage limited content on the website in partnership with the Communications Team:
- Homepage top box
- Homepage Quick Links
Communications Team Owned Content
The messages delivered through the homepage are owned by the Communications Team and are updated regularly. The Communications Team organise the content and pass it to the Bromley Knowledge Team to be added to the page.
