General advice

The Carbon Trust is the key source of energy efficiency / carbon information for businesses.  They also provide (free) energy surveys to commercial organisations that spend over £50,000 per year on energy bills. 

London Environmental Support Services (LESS) offers LDA-funded environmental information for London businesses.

Sustainable Development or Business Link provides government advice & support for businesses on sustainability. 

The Environment Agency has good information on reducing the environmental impact of businesses, including information on environmental performance.

NetRegs provides environmental guidance to help small businesses comply with environmental legislation.

Reducing your carbon footprint

The Carbon Trust offer companies a carbon footprint calculator. This is the essential first step to help organisations benchmark progress.

The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) provides information on government policy.

The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) gives details on climate change and action taken both nationally and internationally.

The Sustainable Development Commission is the Government’s independent watch dog on sustainable development.

UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) provides scenarios that show how our climate might change and co-ordinates research on dealing with our future climate.

Recycling and resource reduction

Envirowise offers businesses free, independent, confidential advice and support on practical ways to increase profits, minimise waste and reduce environmental impact.

Entrust is the regulator of the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme (LTCS), responsible for ensuring that environmental bodies (EBs) comply with the landfill tax regulations.

The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP)helps businesses to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change.
