main content Boot fair occasional sale licence guide

If you intend to operate a car boot fair, an antiques fair or similar fair held outside, you need to apply for an "occasional sale" licence.  We can provide advice about the application process and relevant contact details.

Details

If you are organising a sale with more than five stalls in the open air then you require an Occasional Sale licence.

Some boot sales may be exempt if they are being run solely or principally for a charitable, social, sporting, religious or political purpose.

A holder of an occasional sale licence must still operate within planning legislation, which restricts the number of occasional sales that may be held on a particular site or plot of agricultural land to 14 per calendar year.

Cost

The cost of a licence is £176 for each sale or £2,196  (if an application is made for all 14 events).  Cheques to be made payable to: "Bromley LB".
