Special Treatment Licences include any beauty treatment that involves massage, manicure, acupuncture, tattooing, cosmetic piercing, chiropody, light treatments, electrical treatments and other similar treatments.  It also includes saunas, steam rooms and other baths.  If you wish to apply for a licence, ask us to send you the forms.

Details

Any person who carries out the treatments listed above in premises in the borough needs to be licensed.  You are licensed at those premises only, not licensed as an individual in your own right.  You cannot have a special treatment licence and move from premises to premises.

Please note: if you are mobile beautician and visit clients in their own homes then you do not require a licence.

You will need to have a nationally recognised qualification in the treatments that you are going to be giving.  If in doubt please contact us for advice.

You should apply for a licence before you begin trading.
