main content Number Partners

Number Partners is a programme to promote the importance of numeracy and the development of mental calculation skills. We assist children in Bromley schools by offering them number partnerships with supportive adults from the local and business community.

The focus of Number Partners is to make maths ‘fun’ and build confidence by using specially designed games and activities.

Children respond positively to regular sessions and both partners gain from the relationship.

Benefits for All

Volunteers:

  • enjoy meeting and working with fresh young minds;
  • gain satisfaction from helping a child to discover the benefits of being able to deal with numbers;
  • develop communication and listening skills;
  • make a rewarding contribution to the local community.

Pupils

  • improve their numeracy skills;
  • enjoy raised self esteem and confidence;
  • demonstrate increased motivation and enthusiasm;
  • have the chance to develop a relationship with a positive role model.

The Community

  • enjoys an improvement in educational standards;
  • sees the profile of schools raised within the community

Make maths fun and you can make a difference

Do you:

  • want to make a difference to a child’s life;
  • have 1 or 2 hours a week to give during school term time;
  • want to help a primary school child, who lacks confidence in maths, learn to enjoy the subject and develop new skills;
  • want to share in our vision to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to learn, and help to secure a better future for children who find maths difficult?

Then you should become a volunteer number partner.

You do not need to be Einstein, a mathematician or have a qualification in maths to participate in the programme. Enthusiasm and commitment are much more important attributes.

Full training is provided for all volunteers.
