Welcome to our webpages!

The Every Child Matters Change for Children Programme launched a new approach to the well-being of all children and young people. A key part of this is the expectation that all organisations that provide services to children and young people, must work together in more integrated and effective ways.

Bromley’s Children’s Trust is committed to supporting the children's workforce and the vision is for “One Workforce: A Better Future for Children and Young People in Bromley”. You can see the vision in its entirety, or contact the workforce development team for more information and guidance.  The Workforce Development Strategy Group is one of the strategy groups within Bromley Children's Trust and further information on this group is available here.

The Trust is supporting the workforce to become more integrated by developing a raft of initiatives, programmes and tools, which are detailed below. Over the coming months we will be adding more information to our webpages to keep you better informed, so please keep visiting!

You can view further information about workforce development and the Bromley Children and Young People Trust by visiting the Bromley Partnerships website.

Common Assessment Framework (CAF)

The CAF provides a standardised approach to assessing children and young people’s needs and deciding how they should be met. Anyone whose work brings them into contact with children and families should have an awareness of the CAF and either know how to complete a common assessment themselves or know how to arrange to have one carried out. Training is available to the workforce in Bromley, you can visit our CAF webpages, or alternatively call the CAF team on 020 8461 7174.

Common Core of Skills and Knowledge

The Common Core of Skills and Knowledge sets out the essential skills and knowledge needed by people (including volunteers) whose work brings them into regular contact with children, young people and families. To find out more, please contact the Workforce Development team.

Information Sharing

Information sharing is a vital element in improving outcomes for all. The Department for Children, Schools and Families has published a number of useful resources and guidance to support the sharing of information. Bromley is in the process of developing an Information Protocol which will provide an overarching framework for sharing information between the council and partners.

ContactPoint

ContactPoint is the new national database that will store basic information for all children resident in England. Available to staff who have been authorised, trained and require access to perform their role, ContactPoint will be launched in Bromley during 2010 with practitioner training due in early 2010.  For more information please visit our ContactPoint pages or contact Bromley’s ContactPoint team at contactpoint@bromley.gov.uk  or 020 8313 4066.

The Working Together Induction

This new induction is accessible from Autumn 2009 and available (free!) to everyone in the children’s workforce – voluntary, private, independent and statutory sectors. All of the topics outlined above are covered in the induction including an overview of Every Child Matters, what integrated working means for you and how you can access further training and information. To find out more please contact the Workforce Development team.
