Every Child Matters is a nationwide programme of change within all services for children and young people.  It aims to improve the life chances of all children and young people.

Details

The Every Child Matters programme aims to improve the lives of children and young people by requiring that the Council works closely with its partners to ensure that all children and young people:

The Council is doing this through the Bromley Children and Young People Trust.  The Trust is using the Children and Young People Plan, Every Child Matters in Bromley 2006-09, to support its work by identifying the aims and priorities for Bromley between 2006-2009 under each of the five outcomes.

Key to ensuring that children and young people achieve the five outcomes is the National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services (the NSF).  The NSF is a ten-year programme designed to improve the health of all children and young people from pregnancy to adulthood.

Integrating services

To enable the Trust to improve outcomes for children and young people in the borough, the different agencies will be integrating services where possible and appropriate.

This integration of services, known as whole-system change, focuses on 4 strands:

  1. Inter-agency governance
  2. Integrated strategy
  3. Integrated processes
  4. Integrated frontline delivery
