In order to provide efficient and effective services we need to gather and process information about our staff, customers and community partners/organisations. The Data Protection Act 1998 regulates the way in which we may collect, hold, process, disclose and dispose of personal information.

The following statement sets out the principles that we will adhere to in meeting our obligations under the Data Protection Act. It applies to:

  • all employees, temporary staff, work placement and volunteers; and
  • third parties acting in partnership or on behalf of the Council and when handling Council “owned” data.
