main content Local Government Ombudsman

If you are not satisfied with an investigation carried out under the Getting it Right procedure into a complaint about the Council, the Local Government Ombudsman may be able to help you.

Details

The Local Government Ombudsman provides an independent service which investigates complaints of maladministration against councils. You can complain to the Ombudsman at any time, but he will usually ask the Council to investigate the matter first if it has not already gone through our complaints procedure.

Pick up a copy of the booklet ‘How to Complain to the Local Government Ombudsman’ at libraries and other Council customer service points, or from a Citizens' Advice Bureau, or write to the address below.

An enlarged version of the booklet is available for partially sighted people. Information is also available in other languages.

Before you approach the Ombudsman, please speak to us first and give us a chance to put things right under our own Getting it Right procedure
