The Council is composed of 60 councillors elected every four years; each represents an area called a ward (most of which are represented by more than one councillor). The overriding duty of councillors is to the whole borough community, but they have a special duty to their constituents, whether they voted for them or not.

Who are your councillors?

You may want to contact your councillor because you have concerns about broader local issues or things the Council is doing; you may also want to talk to them to get advice or assistance in pursuing a particular issue or problem.

• search for your councillor by name if you know it.
• if you do not know your local councillor, you can search by ward, postcode or road name.

• Councillors have to agree to follow a Code of Conduct  to ensure  high standards in the way they undertake their duties.
  
• The Standards Committee is responsible for the promotion and maintenance of high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members and Church and parent governor representatives. This committee also has responsibility for corporate governance in respect of the ethical conduct of councillors.
