Picture of Deputy Mayor 2009/10, Cllr Gordon Norrie

The Deputy Mayor of Bromley Councillor Gordon Norrie was first elected to Bromley Council in May 2006 to represent Biggin Hill Ward.  He is also a Governor at Biggin Hill Primary School.

Gordon was born in Aberdeenshire. After working for the Clydesdale Bank in Aberdeen, he came to London to join the Metropolitan Police and served for 35 years. He had many and varied postings, mostly in Central London. Following retirement from the police he has been a manager in a call centre and a manager on a motorway contract dealing with incident management and health and safety. Currently he is employed with the Office for National Statistics.

Soon after his marriage to Linda, they moved to Biggin Hill where they have lived for 38 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. Gordon has been a scout leader and has been involved in various community activities. He subscribes to the view that we have been handed temporary custody of Bromley, the very special green and pleasant Borough, to pass onto our successors and is keen to ensure that it retains its character and heart. He feels very privileged to have been asked to serve as Deputy Mayor of Bromley.

His interests include reading, walking, gardening, and travel.
