Key dates
29 March - Notice of election published
30 March to 6 April - Poll cards delivered
8 April 12 noon - Deadline for nominations of candidates
12 April - List of candidates announced
20 April 5pm - Deadline for receipt of postal and proxy postal vote applications. Midnight - Deadline for return of completed registration applications.
21 April - postal vote distribution begins
27 April - Deadline for non-emergency proxy votes made at polling station
6 May - Election day polling stations open 7am until 10pm
7 May - Declaration of results
If a parliamentary election is announced for the same date, a separate timetable will run alongside that detailed above, and will be published when the election is called. The results of the General Election will be published first, the counting of Borough election votes will follow.
Voting
To vote in a Local Council Election
- You must be 18 years or over.
- Your name must be on the Electoral Register otherwise you cannot vote. You can check that it is at the Electoral Services Office, Bromley Civic Centre. If it is not, staff will advise you on the procedure and timetable for inclusion.
