In order to support all the services and initiatives that we undertake for the local people, we must utilise our resources and assets efficiently.

The Council is responsible for administering council tax and housing benefit and a range of other benefits to assist and support those on lower incomes.

We want to see these benefits go to those in real need rather than those who are not entitled to it.

We actively pursue those are trying to cheat or abuse the system with fraudulent claims. If you suspect someone you know is involved in fraudulent activities, use this section to find out how to raise your concerns with us so we can investigate further.

The Council must maintain an effective system of internal audit of its accounting records and control systems.

We are required to make our accounts available for public inspection by any interested member of the public.
