Council budgets and spending
To support all the services and initiatives that we undertake for the local people, we must use our resources and assets efficiently.
The Statement of Accounts sets out details of the Council's income and expenditure. We are required to make our accounts available for public inspection by any interested member of the public.
The Budget Book provides an overview of the Council’s planned spending for the year.
Fraud is not a victimless crime and it can affect the provision of essential services as well as potentially causing financial loss. We actively pursue those who are trying to cheat or abuse the system with fraudulent benefit claims.
The Council must maintain an effective system of internal audit of its accounting records and control systems.
