Our Society began in 1952 as a social club for Scottish people living locally, but the main activity now is its Scottish Country Dancing class, open to anyone. Scottish Country Dancing is relaxed formation dancing to cheerful music, rather like barn dancing, and usually done in groups of 8. Reels and jigs use fairly quick music while strathspeys are slower - there's no dancing over swords! We change partners for every dance and you do not need to come with anyone. All dances are walked through first. It's an enjoyable way to keep fit and healthy and make new friends. With some practice you will be able to join the many Saturday Scottish Dances around the local area.
