Nursery Education Funding provides free part-time sessions of early education for three and four year olds.

Eligibility

From 1 April 2008:

  • All children attending a registered pre-school or nursery in the London Borough of Bromley will be entitled to receive funding from the term after their third birthday.

The table below shows when children will become eligible for the free place, these are national term dates and are regardless of when a school actually starts or finishes.

If your child is born between:              They are eligible for a free place from: 
1 April and 31 August 1 September following their third birthday 
1 September and 31 December   1 January following their third birthday
1 January and 31 March        1 April following their third birthday 

 

Details

  • The early education session is for up to five 2½ hour sessions per week for up to 38 weeks per year.
  • From 1 April 2008 the grant is £8.78 per session, a child may access a maximum of 5 sessions per week (a session is 2.5 hours).
  • Funding is paid directly to the childcare provider and parents should not be charged for the place.
