The Sensory Support Service enables pupils with sensory impairment to have the best possible access to the Curriculum and the life of their school, whilst meeting needs which are specific to their sensory impairment.

Eligibility

Pupils with hearing and visual difficulties:

  • living in Bromley and attending a Bromley school receive support from Bromley’s Sensory Support Team;
  • living outside the Borough of Bromley, but attending a Bromley school, can receive support from Bromley’s Sensory Support Team;
  • living in Bromley, but attending school in another Borough or County, are entitled to receive support from the relevant authority.

Details

  • Children receive support from sensory support teachers before they start school.
  • Once the children start school one of the teachers works alongside the class teachers offering advice on the best way to ensure that pupils can participate as fully as possible in all activities.
  • The service has a range of specialist equipment, including radio hearing aids, CCTV’s and lap top computers.
