Student Finance - Higher Education
Students undertaking courses of higher education may be entitled to financial assistance. The Student Finance Section deals with all aspects of the student support process from determining eligibility to the assessment of students' maintenance grant and tuition fees/maintenance loan entitlement.
Eligibility
The Local Authority assesses students’ entitlement to assistance under the Student Support scheme by checking various details. These include:
- Your personal eligibility – including whether you meet the residence requirements.
- The type of course you propose to study.
- The college/university you propose to attend.
- Whether you have ever been on, and received support for, a higher education course in the past.
As the eligibility conditions for support can be complex, you are advised to contact the Student Finance Section for further advice as to eligibility/entitlement. Further information is also available in the information notes and booklet you receive when you apply for support.
Details
Please contact the Student Finance Section for further advice regarding the calculation/assessment of entitlement to support towards maintenance grant payments and tuition/maintenance loans.
