Pupils up to the age of 16 whose home address is within the London Borough of Bromley may be eligible for a clothing grant to help pay for their school uniform.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a clothing grant, parents must have one or more children aged four or over attending a local authority maintained school; AND live with their children in the London Borough of Bromley; AND get child benefit for the children. They must also be receiving one of the following:
  • Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers allowance;
  • Working Tax Credit;
  • Child Tax Credit only with a gross annual income not exceeding £15,575;
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit;
  • housing benefit;
  • support from the National Asylum Support Service;
  • support from a Bromley Social Services Asylum Team.

Details

  • The grant is currently £29.60 for primary pupils and £59.20 for secondary pupils per year.
  • Payment is made by cheque to the relevant parent once a year.
  • You should send in your application with the correct proof of benefit by the date on the form - usually late June. The cheque will be sent to you prior to the start of the school year.

If you have claimed before, we will send you a renewal form in April for the following school year.

New applicants can get an application form and further information from the Pupil Benefits Officer or you can print off an application form and return with the required documentation.
