Free school meals for school pupils
Free school meals are available to eligible pupils attending Bromley local authority maintained schools. The Pupil Benefits section authorises free school meal entitlement.
Eligibility
To apply for free school meals, parents must have one or more children aged four and over attending a local authority maintained school in Bromley; and be receiving child benefit for the child/children and one or more of the following:
- Income Support; or
- Income Based Job Seeker's Allowance; or
- Child Tax Credit only with a gross annual income not exceeding £15,575; or
- guarantee element of State Pension Credit; or
- support from the National Asylum Support Service; or
- support from a local authority Social Services Asylum Team
Details
Your child/children will get free school meals for a complete school year as long as you are still entitled to benefit. You must notify the Pupil Benefit Section if there are any changes to benefit entitlement.
We will notify parents and schools in writing of pupils’ entitlement to free school meals.
School Catering must comply with both the National Nutritional Standards Regulations and Bromley's School Lunch Policy.
