Adult and community learning
Don’t just stand still! Learning can make a real difference to your life – it can help you get qualifications to get back to work, train in new skills to take your career in a new direction, meet new people, build your self-confidence or take on new challenges. Maybe you could unearth a talent you didn’t know you had.
But that’s not the only reason to learn - it can be fun and rewarding. Once you start, you’ll want to achieve more, so it might be the start of something much bigger.
Whatever your interests, whatever your circumstances, there are so many things you can learn about, from computer skills to flower arranging, pilates to Spanish, there’s bound to be a course out there to grab your interest. Whether you want to develop a practical skill like gardening, indulge your fascination for antiques or study for a degree there’ll be something to suit you.
Learning opportunities are available in a variety of places in your local community, e.g. further and higher education colleges and Bromley Adult Education College centres throughout the Borough. The Bromley Children Project arranges courses for parents in some schools.
Study can involve enrolling on a course for fun or for a qualification. If you don’t want to commit to a fixed time you can use the flexible learning opportunities available. Courses vary in length, from half day tasters to degree courses offered over several years. Although the majority of courses involve a fee, some are free.
For advice on what and where you can learn and whether you can get help with paying for your course contact the adult guidance staff at the Colleges. For information on childcare options whilst you study contact the Children's Information Service.
The Lifelong Learning Partnership works to promote and increase the number of lifelong learning opportunities in the Borough.
In addition there are a wide range of clubs, organisations and societies in Bromley catering for a variety of interests and hobbies.
