There are currently 76 publicly funded Bromley schools for primary age children, with several Infant schools (5-7 years) and Junior schools (8-11 years) as well as Primary schools for children aged 5-11 years.  Primary School Admissions - Important Dates.

Eligibility

Children starting school:

Children become of compulsory school age at the beginning of the term that follows their fifth birthday.

  • A child born between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005 can start Reception in the academic year 2009/10.

If your child has his/her 5th birthday between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 you will need to apply for a school place.

  • All applications are considered at the same time for the available school places, but children start at different times according to their birth date:

                 -   Those with birthdays between 1 September 2004
and 28 February 2005 start at the beginning of
the Autumn term - September 2009.

                -    Those with birthdays between 1 March 2005
and 31 August 2005 start at the beginning of
the Spring term - January 2010.

As Bromley's admissions policy provides for children to start before their fifth birthday, a request to start earlier than the dates set out above would not be agreed.

If you wish your child to start later, this would be considered by the school that has offered your child a place.  However, that place must be taken up in the academic year that your child would normally enter Reception.

Children already of school age:

  • If your child is already of school age and you require a school place, you need to contact Bromley schools direct as they manage their own admission arrangements.

Bromley residents:  If you have contacted the schools and not been able to secure a school place for your child, please contact the Bromley Admissions Team for further assistance.
