Language disorder - Early intervention
The Phoenix Language Group is a multi-agency initiative, providing early intervention for children identified with a language disorder.
Eligibility
The Phoenix Language Group is for children aged 3–4½ years who have a language disorder diagnosed by a speech and language therapist.
Details
- Sessions are jointly run by a Senior Teacher and Speech and Language Therapist, supported by a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant and a Special Support Assistant.
- The programme admits 9 children termly.
- Sessions run twice a week for 8 weeks (16 sessions).
- Parents/carers attend 1 session each week.
- A member of staff from pre-school settings of children attending the group is invited to attend.
- Sessions provide intensive therapy and support to parents and pre-school settings about communication difficulty issues.
Next Step
Referral must be made to the Early Support Pre-School Panel by a Bromley PCT Speech and Language Therapist.
