Groups and individuals in Bromley are being invited to apply for funds raised by a former Mayor to promote the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Over £28,000 was raised by Councillor Mrs Anne Manning during her year as Mayor (2004/05), through a variety of fund-raising events. The aim of the fund was to maintain and encourage participation in the scheme by any group operating in the borough. It was recognised that, while participation in the borough is amongst the highest in the country, costs such as for travel and equipment can be a deterrent to some families.
