main content Building Design Awards

The Council is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all its residents. The building design awards aim to publicise and reward individual examples of sustainable, good design, to encourage a high standard of design in all new construction projects and to raise public awareness of the built environment. If you know of a recently completed, high quality building or landscape scheme or one that has added to the character of your area, you now have the chance to enter it for an award.

There are five categories in the Building Design Awards
  • Housing: New or refurbished.
  • Public Realm: New or remodelled public buildings or spaces.
  • Commerce: New or refurbished shops, premises or offices.
  • Built Heritage: Listed buildings or those within a conservation area.
  • Environmental Improvements: Enhancements to the built environment.
