A guide to Full Plans application
Before you carry out building works to your home you may need to apply for Building Regulation approval. A Full Plans application will give you peace of mind because we will check the plans to make sure that your building work complies to the regulations. Contact us if you need to make a full plans application or need further advice.
Eligibility
Our service is only applicable to properties in the borough. We are members of the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and if the property is not in this borough, LABC website can give you further help.
Details
Submitting a full plans application will:
- ensure that the proposed work complies with the regulations;
- be necessary when borrowing money from a bank or building society to pay for the work;
- will help builders give you an accurate quote.
Some buildings are exempt from Building Regulations see "Domestic buildings exempt from Building Control" for more information.
Costs
A schedule of charges is attached to the Full Plans application form for your information. Please note, our charges, effective from 1st April 2007, are still current.
Next Steps
To apply for a Full Plans approval you must submit fully detailed plans, specifications, calculations and other supporting details. The amount of detail required depends on the size and type of building works proposed. A location plan should also be provided indicating where the building is relative to neighbouring roads.
Use the Full Plans application form to apply and enclose the correct payment.
