A guide to conservation volunteering
Are you itching to get involved in doing something special for the environment? Have you though about volunteering some time to help wildlife? Details below gives information on how you can get involved.
Details
here are lots of different ways you can get involved in protecting and enhancing Bromley’s biodiversity.
You can to get your hands dirty on one of our practical workdays, doing hedge laying or tree planting, help survey species or have your say on a Friends Group committee. There are opportunities throughout the Borough for all ages and abilities. Previous experience is not required, so give it a go!
The Countryside Management Service runs a regular programme of midweek practical projects for volunteers on privately owned land and Council-owned farmland. Training and tools are provided. Volunteers bring a packed lunch and work wear, including stout boots and waterproofs.
There is also a network of Friends Groups that provide help/support for many of the Council owned green spaces in the Borough. There are 14 of these groups each with their own style and structure of work. These groups not only undertake practical work but also influence aspects of management and community involvement relating to the site.
