main content Riding in Bromley

It is estimated that there are 2000 horses stabled in the London Borough of Bromley! Many horse riders are able to ride on land where their horses are stabled, alternatively personal arrangements are made with landowners for riding access. Elsewhere, roads, lanes and established off-road routes provide an important riding network.

Eligibility

Horse riders in the London Borough of Bromley.

Details

In the London Borough of Bromley, off-road riding routes comprise public rights of way (including bridleways and byways) and permissive routes. Permissive routes are defined routes made available to the public or specified groups by permission of the landowner. There may be specific restrictions in place regarding their use and the routes may be closed at any time. Some permissive routes occur on Council-owned land, such as Hayes Common, whilst others occur on privately-owned land.

The Bromley Bridleways Access Group (BBAG) and Bromley Council’s Countryside Management Service have produced a map of off-road routes. The publication is supplemented by key points of information relating to safety and the riding and stabling of horses in the Borough. The map can be purchased from BBAG.
