What should I do if I want to report an emergency?
An emergency is where a tree or part of a tree is either blocking or likely to fall onto a public area (for example pavement, road, playground, park or public open space).
You can contact us here to report a tree problem. The out- of- hours number should only be used for genuine emergencies and not routine enquiries.
When will a street tree be pruned?
If it is outside my house, is overhanging the boundary of my property, blocking light or blocking reception to my satellite dish. We currently do not have an ongoing tree maintenance programme so there is no guarantee that the tree will be pruned. However the street tree will be inspected annually and if it should require health and safety works then these will be undertaken.
Can I request that a fallen or diseased tree be replaced?
Yes,
please contact us or
report online An officer will inspect the tree and remove it if necessary. The location of the tree will then be recorded and this information will be used to replant in winter. Unfortunately due to the number of requests there is no guarantee that a removed tree will be replaced in the following winter season.
Is it possible for me to plant a tree in memory of a family member or friend?

please contact us to find out more about our plant a tree scheme.

A tree is overhanging my property from my neighbour's garden. How do I get it cut back?
Ask the owner of the tree to cut it back. If they refuse then you are legally entitled to remove any parts of the tree that are directly overhanging your property, provided that the tree is not protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or within a conservation area. Further information on
tree preservation and contact details. If this is the case, then you must notify us before the work takes place.
You can only cut back to your boundary line and not beyond it. You cannot trespass onto your neighbour’s property to do the works unless you have permission. In these instances we highly recommend the use of a qualified tree surgeon.
