Employers reporting accidents
If you are an employer and one of your employees has had an accident at work, it may need to be reported. Accidents involving visitors may also need to be reported. Accidents should be reported to the Incident Centre at Caerphilly, Wales. We receive this information daily to collect details of accidents reported in Bromley and in many cases we will investigate further.
Eligibility
Only employers can report accidents to the Incident Centre. If you have been involved in the accident and are not sure whether the accident has been reported or need advice, you can contact us.
Details
An employer should report an accident that has happened to an employee at work if:
- the employee is unfit for work for 3 days or more as a result of the accident, regardless of whether they were due to work or not
- the employee has suffered a major injury, e.g. broken leg
- the employee has died due to the seriousness of their accident
Companies should report accidents of non-employees whilst on their premises if:
- the injured person goes directly to hospital from the accident site e.g. by ambulance, taxi or car
