We are responsible for ensuring that:

• The health and safety and welfare of people at work are adequately protected by their employers
• The self employed protect their own health and safety and welfare and
• Anyone else who may be affected by work is adequately protected.

These responsibilities apply mainly to the retail, wholesale, office and leisure businesses in the Borough. Our policy sets out the general principles and approaches we will follow when carrying out our functions.
