Planning practices and policies shape the physical and economic development of the urban and rural landscape. At the same time, we seek to protect greenbelt land and conserve the character of the borough. Development in the borough ranges from large redevelopment schemes to housing developments and residential extensions.

We can give information and advice on all aspects of planning and building control from details on the types of development that require planning permission to advice and guidance on preparing and submitting plans and applications.

Please note that any application, which has a receipt date of more than 4 weeks before today, may be determined under delegated powers at any time.

Information about the consultation on local requirements for the validation of planning applications, is available here.

Design and Access Statements are now a legal requirement when applying for planning permission. Details are available here.

Public Access to Planning Applications is a service which allows you to follow the progress of a planning application and view current and past applications.

You can view public notices relating to planning on the News Shopper online.
Information about the planning service is available online at the Planning Portal.

Information about Council meetings where planning decisions are made is available here.
