Crystal Palace Park Planning Inquiry
The Public Inquiry took place between 7 July and 7 August and 7 and 8 September 2009 to consider the cases for and against the London Development Agency’s (LDA) “Masterplan” for Crystal Palace Park.
The Planning Inspector will now review the evidence and will prepare a report to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government who will make the final decision. It is unlikely that a decision will be issued until some time in 2010 given the complexity of the case and volume of evidence heard.
The Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has heard the London Development Agency’s (LDA) evidence in favour of the scheme, and from supporters including English Heritage and the Greater London Authority. Objectors including the Crystal Palace Community Association, the Joseph Paxton Society and Sport England have also presented evidence.
Bromley Council’s Development Control Committee had resolved to grant outline planning permission, Conservation Area Consent and Listed Building Consent for the LDA park proposals at its meeting on 9 December 2008. Subsequently the Secretary of State “called in” the applications for Central Government to make the final decision.
At the Inquiry the Council has explained the Committee’s resolution regarding the three applications and the Environmental Assessment that accompanied them, which was based on full and detailed reports considered by Councillors at the Development Control Committee on 9 December 2008.
The documents for the Inquiry can be seen at the Inquiry website, which is hosted by a third party organisation.
