A guide to the Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the Council's policy for involving the community in the preparation, alteration and review of planning policy documents and in deciding planning applications. The SCI can be viewed by the links below or you can contact us.
Details
- We have produced a draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), as required by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
- We consulted on the draft SCI for a six-week period from 25 November 2005 to 6 January 2006. 150 comments were received and these comments led to a number of changes to the document.
- The revised SCI was submitted to the Secretary of State.
- A second formal six-week consultation period on the Submission Draft SCI took place from 24 March to 5 May 2006. This was essentially to ascertain whether the SCI is sound according to the nine tests of soundness.
- The representations made were considered at an examination by an independent planning inspector. The Inspector published his report on 24 July 2006.
- The Statement of Community Involvement was amended using the Inspector’s binding recommendations and was adopted by us on 11 September 2006.
Copies of the Adopted Version SCI and summaries of the submissions received are available below or from our Planning Reception at the Civic Centre. Copies of all the submissions received are available to view at the Civic Centre (main and planning receptions) and all the local libraries.
