The consultation on the Orpington Masterplan is now closed. We are grateful to all of those who have taken the time to submit their views. These will be collated and reported to the Development Control Committee at the end of August, when the next steps will be determined.

Details

Starting 6 June, members of the public, local businesses and anyone with an interest in the future of Orpington town centre will have six weeks to comment on a Masterplan developed by the Council and its consultants Entec.
As the second largest town in the borough, the council has made a commitment to improving Orpington’s competitiveness by investing in its future. The town provides an important centre for shopping and a range of leisure and public amenities as well as being a business and employment hub. The Masterplan is in two parts. The first is a short-term strategy to update and improve the appearance of the High Street. This sits alongside a longer-term development framework, identifying possible schemes for improving the central part of the town.

The consultation runs from 6 June  to 17 July , starting with an exhibition van in Orpington High Street (near the Post Office) on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June.  Consultants and council officers will be on hand to answer questions.

Next steps

The results of the consultation will be presented to councillors in September 2008 for a decision to adopt the Masterplan and to agree an implementation plan for public space improvements.
