Details
Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, it is the responsibility of businesses to ensure that trade waste is disposed of correctly. Disposal of business or trade waste is not included in business rates.
The ‘duty of care’ law says you must take all reasonable steps to keep waste safe. If you give waste to someone else, you must ensure they are authorised to take it, transport it, and recycle or dispose of it safely. If they do not and your waste is found fly-tipped, you can be fined an unlimited amount.
You can arrange for us, or another organisation, which must be registered as a waste broker, to collect your waste for a charge. You can check with The Environment Agency to ensure that the broker is registered and has a current Waste Carrier's Licence.
