We can provide advice on measures to reduce your use of water in both the home and garden.
Details
The hosepipe ban has now been lifted, but hotter and drier summers mean water conservation remains important.
Here are some practical tips to help save water and ease the drought situation:
In the home
- Replace worn washers to stop dripping taps
- Only use washing machines and dishwashers when full
- Take a shower instead of a bath
- Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
- Wash vegetables in a bowl rather than under a running tap
In the garden
- Use mulches such as wood chip, bark or gravel to help prevent evaporation; this will also prevent weed growth
- Consider planting drought-tolerant flowers and shrubs such as thyme, evening primrose, lavender and buddleia
- Consider purchasing a water butt to collect rain waters
