Do you like being outdoors? Are you interested in gardening and conservation, and improving your health and well-being?

Volunteers at Winsford Gardens

Penge Green Gym Community Group/Friends of Winsford Gardens is a group of local volunteers that meets at Winsford Gardens every Wednesday

Our aim is to regenerate this small park in Penge which was neglected for a number of years.

Just come along at about 10.50 am on any Wednesday. The  group meets at  Winsford Gardens almost every Wednesday (except for Bank Holidays.)

You  will need to complete a short health questionnaire before a warm up and tool talk

Sixth in a series of science talks, presented by Dr Martin J Heath AKC.

A new exploration of the opportunities and challenges for life in the universe that takes us from the woods and hedgerows of southern England to the farthest galaxies spied by the Hubble Space Telescope. The talks will look at future directions for astrobiology and how they could transform perceptions of our home world.

This lecture will explore:


i) Bio-tech and future forests

ii) Forests and Galactic colonisation

Please join us at St George's Chapel for this free film screening of Biggin Hill Experiences of War, a film capturing the memories of those who served and lived at Biggin Hill during the Second World War.

The film has been given the overall local certification as 'U' - suitable for all ages.

No booking required. Maximum 100 people per screening.

Disabled access There is one small step to access the Chapel. On-site disabled parking can be arranged, please contact the event organiser.

Dinosaur Day Crystal Palace Park - Behind the Scenes Conservation Tours

The behind the scenes tours are part of the Heritage Open Day Dinosaur Day Event at Crystal Palace Park.

Bring the family down to Crystal Palace Park to get up close and personal with the famous Crystal Palace Dinosaurs. Following major conservation work on some of the most at risk dinosaurs, join our conservators for a behind-the-scenes tour on the island, an area not usually open to the public.

The behind the scenes tours are part of Dinosaur Day at Crystal Palace Park. Join us to experience the many ways the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs are one of London's most surprisingly rich and delightful historic sites.

Tours will start at 11am, 12noon, 2pm and 3pm.

The tour will take place on the dinosaur island in Crystal Palace Park. The meeting point is the picnic tables near the dinosaurs. The closest park entrances are Penge Gate/Thicket Road. 

Max 20 people per tour/session. Although this is a family-friendly activity, unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies or very small children. Visitors are advised to wear sturdy footwear for the tour.

Tours must be booked in advance at cpdinosaurs.org/ (booking opens 20 August)

Max group size 4 people. Tickets should also be booked for children.

Join conservator India Carpenter to find out more about the conservation and monitoring of the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs.

Using the Standing Iguanodon in Crystal Palace Park as a case study, this talk demonstrates how photogrammetry and 3D digitisation can be used to map and monitor the deterioration of 3D cultural heritage. The talk is part of Dinosaur Day at Crystal Palace Park.

The talk will take place at the Park's Information Centre. The closest gate is Penge Gate/Thicket Road
