Queen's Diamond Jubilee event

Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Bromley as part of the UK Diamond Jubilee tour.

Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Bromley town centre and attended a preview of a special public event in Queens Gardens, to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee .

The unique all day public event, 'London as a Global Centre of Fashion' will see Queen's Gardens and the Glades Shopping Centre transformed with fashion exhibits, celebrations of British fashion designers from the past 60 years and fashions of the future.  There will be a party atmosphere in Bromley High Street all day with live music, roving entertainers and much more.  Queen's Gardens will be open to the public from 12pm so why not go along and the interactive displays and fashion exhibitions for yourself?  

Falconry displays and a Duke of Edinburgh Award exhibition will also be put on show in Queen's Gardens throughout the day.  Look out for a large crown in Queen's Gardens in celebration of the Jubilee, made of living plants and sponsored by Coolings Garden Centre.

Avoid the queues and use the free park and ride service at Norman Park. Buses will run regularly from 6am - 6pm. Parking available via the Hook Farm Lane entrance.

BiggINwheels Skatepark Competition

Freestyle BMX, Skateboard and Scooter Competition.

Location: Biggin Hill Recreation Ground, Church Road, Biggin Hill TN16 3LB

Time: 11:00 - 17:00

Cost: Competitor registration £2.00

Freestyle BMX, Skateboard and Scooter Competition.
Demonstrations by professional performers, competitions for amateurs and experts (age 10 and up) and coaching sessions throughout the day.

Former BMX amateur world champion will present and 3 professional riders will judge the competitions, present prizes and give advice.

If you are under 16 years of age and want to take part you will need to print off, complete and bring with you the Team Extreme disclaimer form.

Find out more about Bromley's sporting stories and local heroes. Did you know that David 'the Hayemaker' Haye, the former boxing heavyweight champion lives in Beckenham? And don't forget about W.G. Grace, one of the most well known cricketers of all time! He spent the end of his life in Mottingham and was buried at Elmers End Cemetery when he died in 1915.
