Energy-saving lightbulbs
A lightbulb’s a lightbulb, right? Wrong. Although they may look similar, today’s energy-saving lightbulbs are underpinned by incredibly complex, ever-evolving technology.
Energy-saving lightbulbs can produce light using a fraction of the electricity needed for ordinary lightbulbs – which means they last up to 12 times longer, and go on saving you money year after year.
Where should I fit energy-saving lightbulbs?
Take a look around your home. Where do you have your lights on most often and for the longest period? These are the best ones to replace because they will save you the most money. However, energy-saving lightbulbs may not work with electronic sensors, dimmers and timers, so always check the manufacturer’s instructions first.

The light is radiated differently from ordinary lightbulbs, so you might consider choosing the next higher wattage to achieve the same illumination.
Energy-saving lightbulbs are available from various retail outlets including, DIY stores, supermarkets and department stores etc. Your utility supplier may also have a scheme to enable you to purchase them at reduced prices.
