main content Glazing

Double glazing cuts heat loss, noise and condensation, by trapping air in a gap between the two panes of glass. This forms an insulating barrier.

Building Regulations also require that ‘low emissivity’ or ‘low E double glazing’ is used for all new and replacement windows. Low E glass has a special invisible metallic coating that reflects heat back into the room, thus conserving heat.

Replacement double- glazed windows come in a variety of styles and sizes. Aluminium and PVCU frames are virtually maintenance free, while wooden frames need to be painted regularly. Replacing single- glazed windows with low E double glazing could cut your heating bill by £40 per year.

Secondary glazing is less expensive than replacement double glazing and can still save you around £30 a year in heating bills.
