The under-occupation scheme allows people in two-bedroom or larger properties to move to smaller accommodation. This only applies to people who currently live in a housing association tenancy in the Borough of Bromley and wish to move.

For each bedroom you are able to give up you can receive £500.

For example, if you move from a three-bedroom to a one-bedroom property you will receive £1,000.

You will also receive a removal grant for £300.


Eligibility


  • You must be a housing association tenant living in the Borough of Bromley.
  • You will have a clear rent account and no need such a large property.
  • Your housing association must be willing to return your property to us.


Extra information 


  • All moves would be to another housing association home within the London Borough of Bromley. Sometimes moves outside the Borough may be possible.
  • All applications will be considered individually as it will depend on the size and location of your current property; where you wish to move to; and what property you will require.
  • You will need to be flexible in your choice of areas where you are willing to accept another property. Limiting the choice of areas will make it harder for us to assist you.
  • A support services is available in case you need help with completing forms or arranging removal.
