Most public sector housing in Bromley is built by housing associations (also known as registered social housing landlords).
The Housing Strategy Team monitors progress, provides some funding and supports funding applications made by housing associations to the Housing Corporation and other funding sources.
The Housing Strategy Team also produces the housing and homelessness strategies, which identifies priorities for housing in Bromley and gives details of spending plans.
We have recently produced our draft homelessness strategy 2008-12 which is currently in a period of consultation until the end of July 2008. To view the strategy and take part in the consultation please see the draft homelessness strategy 2008-12 pages.
The Council's Housing and Homelessness Strategies
The Housing and Homelessness policies produced by the Council are directly linked into the framework of the Councils overarching strategies. The vision for the London Borough of Bromley is projected through the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) and the Council’s Purpose has for many years been: “Enhancing the Quality of Life”. The highest-level priorities are set out in the ‘Building a Better Bromley’ (BBB) policy, which integrates with the Borough’s Community Plan. The BBB vision statement is that Bromley “remains the place where people choose to live and do business. As a Council we see our role alongside partners, as helping to maximise the opportunities that all residents have to lead fulfilling and independent lives. We recognise that communities, families and individuals are different and will reflect this in our approach to meeting local needs." These are reflected in how the Housing Services are provided, and throughout its strategy and aims.
