Building a Better Bromley
Key organisations have signed up to a number of pledges to work together to go on improving the London Borough of Bromley.
Building a Better Bromley has contained the guiding principles for Bromley Council since 2004/05. Following public consultation in 2016, the council updated and relaunched the priorities contained in the vision and, in its role as community leader, strengthened links with key partner organisations to help deliver important outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors to Bromley.
Building a Better Bromley has seven key priority areas as follows:
- A Quality Environment
- Vibrant Thriving Town Centres
- Supporting our Children and Young People
- Supporting Independence
- Safe Bromley
- Healthy Bromley
Our officer and political structures are all aligned to deliver this vision through our portfolio plans.
We want to create an environment where individuals and communities can thrive and where people can lead healthier and more independent, self-reliant lifestyles, allowing the council to focus more on supporting the borough’s most vulnerable residents. Services are underpinned by the principles of early intervention and prevention. The council also wants Bromley to be a place where children and young people can be successful, supported into work and offered advice and signposting to self-help solutions and where everyone feels safe.
London South East Colleges is one college with sites across South East London. We are committed to delivering the highest quality skills development in London and the South East and work with over 500 employers to ensure the education and training we deliver is exactly what industry needs.

The CCG’s vision is to help people in Bromley to live longer, healthier and happier lives.
The Metropolitan Police aims to make London the safest global city, to be the best crime fighters and to earn the trust and confidence of every community. Police officers take pride in the quality of their services and want people to be love, respect and be proud of London’s Met.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London's fire and rescue service - the busiest in the country and one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. The LFB’s aim is to make London a safer city and be a world class fire and rescue service for London, Londoners and visitors. The London Fire Brigade will always respond to fires and other emergencies but now with a much stronger emphasis on fire prevention and community safety.
The Department for Work and Pensions aims to provide security, extend opportunity, and give people the support they need to transform their lives. It is focussed on helping the most vulnerable people in our society by addressing the root causes of disadvantage and supporting them to turn their lives around. DWP wants a fair and affordable welfare system that enables people to achieve financial independence where possible. This includes support for people into work through Bromley's Jobcentre Plus.
