Affordable Housing Viability Assessment
An Affordable Housing Viability Assessment (AHVA) was commissioned by the council in 2010. The purpose of the assessment was to contribute a robust evidence base, in relation to affordable housing viability in the borough, to support the preparation of relevant Local Development Framework documents.
An AHVA update was carried out in 2012 to refresh the 2010 assessment and to help inform the development of the council's affordable housing policies within the emerging Local Plan. The update reviews the impact on development viability of varying affordable housing thresholds, proportions and tenure mixes. It has reassessed the financial capacity of residential schemes in the borough to deliver affordable housing without their viability being unduly affected or that of the Local Plan as a whole.
