Pre - school specialist support and disability services
This service provides early identification and intervention, assessment and transition support for any child with special educational needs or a disability offering access to a wide range of co-ordinated, multi-agency support and services.
Pre-School services for children with special educational needs are based at or work from the Phoenix Children's Resource Centre.
Who can get support
Children aged 0 - 5 with additional needs or disabilities, who are resident in the London Borough of Bromley
Phoenix pre school
There are four classes at the pre-school providing part time placements for children with a wide range of severe or complex needs.
Bromley portage
A home teaching service to help babies and young children aged 0-5 who have additional needs and their families are delayed in their development and live in the London Borough of Bromley.
The service- works with children, in partnership with parents, in their home;
- devises small step teaching tasks to aid a child's learning;
- helps to record achievement so that progress is appreciated and confidence built;
- gives support, guidance and friendship.
- has an Early Learning Group to support learning;
- has a fortnightly play session for parents and children;
- Loan of equipment, books and toys
SPEACS service
Speech and language therapy and Portage, EarlyAction for Children's Social communication(SPEACS) offers support for children who have social communication needs and their families, and who are on the waiting list for portage.
EarlyBird Programme
The programme, which is accredited by the National Autistic Society, supports parents of pre-school children who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It helps parents to understandand manage their child's behaviour and to develop their child's communication skills. The programme is delivered over 12 weeks including 8 sessions at the Phoenix Centre and 4 home visits.
Outreach and Inclusion
This team provides specialist support to enable children with special educational needs and disabilities to be included in main stream pre-school settings. This includes advice about other services and moving on to school.
