Consultation update on the future of Bromley children and family centres
The London Borough of Bromley has undertaken a formal consultation on the future of its 17 children and family centres (across 18 sites). The proposal put forward during the consultation was to reduce the number of universal council led children and family Centres from 17 to 2, with support for a specialist centre for children with disabilities.
The outcome of the consultation was published and discussed at the Children and Young People (CYP) Policy Development Scrutiny (PDS) Committee on 14 July 2011, and subsequently on 6 September 2011 (full report The Consultation Outcomes: Future of Children and Family Centres (DCYP11102). The report proposed an alternative model of six children and family centres whilst retaining support at a reduced level for a specialist centre for children with disabilities. The Portfolio Holder for CYP released his decision on 26 September 2011 in which he approved the recommendations in the report.
Further information about the consultation outcomes and the six centre model is available in the consultation update document.
