On top of your basic salary and, like all teachers in the UK, you'll receive an excellent final salary pension when you retire. The Teachers' Pension Scheme is a contributory scheme run by Teachers' Pensions. The benefits of the scheme are governed by the Teachers' Pensions Regulations 1997 and subsequent amendments. The scheme automatically covers full-time teachers who have not yet retired and who have not opted out of the scheme to make their own pension arrangements. It pays guaranteed benefits, which are protected against inflation. The benefits are an annual pension and a tax-free lump sum.
