Parking dispensations/suspensions

You can request a parking dispensation (on a yellow line) or a suspension (of a parking bay) in circumstances where a vehicle needs to be close to a specific location.

Parking dispensation

A parking dispensation allows a vehicle to park on a waiting restriction (single yellow line) in circumstances where the vehicle needs to be close to a specific location.  For example, for carrying out works that require continuous access to a building for loading or unloading goods or materials.  Details of the cost will be provided on application.

Parking arrangements can also be made in connection with funerals, blood transfusion services, health screening, domestic removals, etc.

How to apply

If you need to park:

  • on a yellow line, for example to carry out works that require continuous access to a building for loading/unloading goods or materials, please apply online . There are application guidance notes to help you.

If you need to park:

  • in connection with a funeral, blood transfusion service, health screening, domestic removal, please complete the online request form.

Red routes

We are unable to grant dispensations for red routes; in these case you will need to apply to Transport for London.

Parking suspension

We can arrange to suspend parking bays, so that the restriction that normally applies to those bays will not apply for the period of time indicated on yellow signs at the location.  Parking suspensions serve to keep the bays clear and only vehicles granted with a suspension are allowed access to carry out essential works.  For example; road works, utility works, construction projects, or where continuous access to a building or site is necessary to load or unload goods or materials.

We can also arrange a suspension for a skip to be placed in a bay provided that a skip licence has been obtained prior to the suspension request.

How to apply

If you require a parking bay suspension, please apply online, at least 48 hours in advance. Details of the cost will be provided on application.
